Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Concord, NH
Addressing Your Dental Concerns Directly

Dr. Marshall has just about seen and heard it all in his 40 years of practice. That means if you have a question or concern about an upcoming treatment or anything dentistry-related, there’s a pretty good chance that our team has an answer! Below, we’ve answered a handful of the most common questions we hear for your convenience. You’re always welcome to inquire about your smile or oral health at your future appointment at our Concord office!
How often should I visit for a checkup?
The best way to protect your smile outside of at-home oral care is maintaining routine dental checkups once every six months. This allows us to catch the early signs of dental problems before they turn severe and remove harmful plaque and tartar from your teeth and gums. Those with gum disease may need to visit more frequently.
Do I need to get my cavity taken care of now?
While our team will never pressure you into completing treatment you don’t want, we strongly recommend considering a tooth-colored dental filling if you have a cavity. Not only will this restore your tooth’s esthetics and function, but you’ll prevent your cavity from getting worse. This could lead to you needing a dental crown later, which only costs more.
What’s the best way to replace teeth?
While it truly depends on your current oral health and preferences, we often recommend dental implants because of their longevity, functionality, and esthetics. However, we also offer traditional dental bridges. We’ll complete an in-person consultation with you to determine your needs and provide a recommendation from there.
Is it possible to replace all my teeth with dental implants?
Yes! Dental implants can be used to hold complex restorations, including hybrid dentures. By maximizing the amount of bone tissue inside your jaw, we can place just four dental implants as well as a full arch denture the same day as your surgery. This allows you to save money on your tooth replacement compared to other options while maintaining the benefits of dental implants.
Do I need braces to straighten teeth?
Not necessarily. While more severe cases may require traditional metal braces to address, you may be able to resolve misalignment, gaps, and uneven bites with Invisalign alone. Keep in mind that Invisalign functions best when handling mild to moderate orthodontic concerns.
Can you make my smile whiter?
Our office provides multiple options to whiten teeth based on your preferences. While our in-office whitening can make your smile multiple shades whiter in a single one-hour appointment, our take-home whitening lets you brighten your smile while you travel or relax at home.
What is a smile makeover?
Smile makeovers are essentially cosmetic treatment plans that consist of multiple procedures. If you have several imperfections you’d like to address, there’s a good chance that one treatment won’t be enough to get it done. After reviewing your smile and discussing your concerns, Dr. Marshall will break down the treatments he believes will best help you achieve your dream smile.
